Hi guys! i'm a member of italian tom's hardware forum, i write here too for get more information about my problem.
I have an asus k52jt notebook and last week i upgrade my RAM with a g.skill kit 2x4GB.
My old ram was 2x2GB.
The two rams have the same Mhz= 1333 but different voltage, old(1.5) new(1.35).
My notebook can support max 8GB of ram then the problem is not this.
My windows is 7 home premium 64Bit.
Now i explain my problem:
When i take my new kit of ram, the bios recognize it with 8GB but my SO (Ubuntu on windows, ubuntu live from USB and windows) recognize only 4GB like a single bank of RAM.
I open CPUZ and he see 8GB some times single channel and some times dual channel.
I try to set the ram with 1 new and 1 old and the system see 6GB:
1#4GB and 2#2GB the system see 6GB and i can use it
1#2GB and 2#4GB the system see 6GB(but only two able to use) [i think because this pc have one slot primary and the other slave]
So my ask is:
Why my SO can't see all ram when i put 2x4GB of g.skills RAMs?
Thank you so much for you time and sorry for my english!

I forgot to mention that i see other thred and i can't solve my problem, and my BIOS have the last update.

No this pc have only two slots.
I try to explain better what happens with CPUZ.
So, if i muont the old ram CPUZ set the ram to slot 1 and slot 3.
If i muont slot1=4GB (new) and slot2=2GB(old) the same, but if i ibernate the system when i restart pc an error say to me that the firmware can't map the ram correctly and the pc restar automatically (only with this configuration).
If i muont the new ram CPUZ set this ram on slot1 and slot2 and i don't know why, and some times CPUZ write single channel and some times dual channel..... and with the new ram ibernate work better.
For me the problem is the BIOS, he see the 8GB of rams but he don't map it correctly.
if the problem is the firmware i'm fu**ed because i have the last versione of BIOS :(

Mixing different RAM sticks and/or kits is asking for problems. I bet the timings are different too. You need to find the exact model to match up memory sticks. Even then there's a good chance that there will be problems because the 2 sticks were not tested together making sure they work with each other. Your best bet is to get a 2 stick kit. That way you will be guaranteed that the memory will work together.

Ah ok i don't know this.
But the real problem is with the kit.
I buy a kit of rams 2x4GB GSKILL 1333MHZ 1.35V.
My old ram is 1333 1.5V.
The bios see 8GB but windows and ubuntu only 4GB, BUT CPUZ see all of 8GB.
The mix of memory old and new 4 and 2GB was only a test ;)
Thank you for your information spooky!
