Hi so I woke up one morning and my HDMI stopped working by itself. If i go to display settings another monitor doesn't show up anymore if i press "Detect" the following message shows "Another display not connected" i've tried 2 different HDMI cables and 2 different TV's. I've also tried reinstalling drivers several times manually ( these are definitely the correct drivers ) I've checked to see if it was a Hardware problem but the HDMI port doesn't look damaged at all I don't see how it can just stop working overnight, its a shame because i love to use my tv as an external monitor.
I also tried going to my Intel(R) Graphics properties to see if i could configure anything from there but no external monitor shows from there either.

My system is a Lenovo laptop G680 Model running windows 7 os.
its very rare for me to come across a PC related issue and not be able to fix it and its buggin' me any help is appreciated! Thank you god bless.

i checked from the TV menu HDMI is ticked along with YPbPr, DTV, EXT-1 etc... its a pretty simple 22 inch HDTV I've also tried restoring default settings. But like i said i've also tried on my brothers 42 inch with different HDMI cable and still doesn't work. absolutely no sign of any connectivity. I'm convinced the problem is with the laptop. Thank you any advice is appreciated im out of ideas.

It's starting to seem like a hardware issue. Is the HDMI port showing up in device manager?
Edit: What kind of laptop is it?

good point im not sure if something under the name "HDMI" should be showing in Device manager all i can see is under Display Adapters Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 which is my graphics driver i assume the HDMI compatibility comes with it?

After doing some research it seems like a lot of people are having this same issue. Try this http://www.eightforums.com/graphic-cards/7743-those-troubled-hdmi-sync-issues-intel-hd-3000-4000-etc.html to see if it works.

EDIT: This is my exact laptop Lenovo G580 Model 2689 (not G680 sorry) http://www.mega.pk/items_images/6644lenovo-g580-blue-a.jpg

Have you tried using the VGA port? From what I've read it looks like you'll just have to wait until Intel releases a new driver, unfortunately.
Edit: Also, have you done a full windows update recently? I read that that may solve the issue

I dont have a VGA port on this laptop unfortunately only HDMI. Yes i've tried windows update scanned for registry errors etc everything seems to be working fine. Well at least i know the problem is with Intel.
Looks like i will have to wait for Intel to release a updated driver then thank you all so much for your help! If i come across a fix i will post here asap for others experiencing this issue.

OK, no problem. I hope you're able to fix it! I don't think it could be a heat issue, these specific laptops don't typically have overheating issues.

Yes Lenovo seems great when it comes to keeping the laptop cool.
Theirs something i find strange.. I dont think you even need graphics drivers for HDMI to work. From experience i remember being able to use HDMI to TV without having graphics driver installed only the resolution would be bad..so perhaps the issue is from elsewhere maybe windows files.. it doesn't make sense to me
