I'm awaiting my replacement Asus g750 JS model, should be here in a few hours. I have a Asus G750 JM model which I use for gaming and all around personal stuff, but the JS that's coming is for work. Video editing, and 3d rendering software.

My question, is how do I set up storage for maximum performance, efficiency, and get the most from what I have?

I currently have for this laptop:
-1 Mata m.2 raid control card - with 2x 1tb Samsung evo Mata m.2 ssd's
-1 512 GB Samsung evo sad (2.5")
-It will come with 1 256 SanDisk msata m.2 sad
-It will come with 1tb 7200 RPM 1tb hid

I have a pioneer blu ray burner which will replace the DVD burner it comes with
I also have a 2.5" hhd/ssd caddy which can also replace the DVD burner

For external I have
-LG wall powered 16x blue ray burner
-2x 2.5" USB 3.0 hhd/ssd external enclosure
-1x msata m.2 usb3.0 external enclosure

What I've learned so far
-The SanDisk m.2 ssd that comes with cannot be used in the external caddy. I've reformatted and done everything I can to make it work, it just wont
-The Samsung evo m.2 ssd's do work in the external enclosure
-The Samsung evo drives (any size) give 250-300 mbps when not used as boot/o's drive since rapid boost is the reason for their 550mbps speeds
-Using the raid 0 controller for the two Samsung m.2 ssd's does not recognize them as ssd's anymore, and trim/smart does not work on them, neither does the Samsung software recognize them.
-Using the m.2 ssd x2 control card while using the Samsung evo 1tb m.2's as separate drives not in raid, results in 200mbps read/write
-the SanDisk included m.2 ssd provides 350 mbps read/write, and cannot be used other than in laptop itself, any which way (so somewhere would like to use this in system so its not just collecting dust)
-The included 1tb hhd does give 200mbps read and 180 mbps write, but more than likely best fit in an external enclosure

Other note, the DVD replacement bay for 2.5" drive will probably be used since I have an external blue ray burner otherwise. But the sata connection for is sata 1 not 2, so setting up my dual m.2 ssd card is not ideal in this location since its limited transfer speed

My jm laptop has a 512gb Samsung evo for boot, and the 1tb hhd for data. Don't want to waste an sad in that laptop nor do I want to change anything on it. Except I will more than likely pu the blue ray burner in that laptop since the stock DVD drive is very loud.

Any thoughts or opinions welcome!

its the m.2, sorry I thought it was a msata but m.2 version with difference size/pins/notch, but yes you are correct they are different. But the drives are m.2

And yes auto correct is a b*(*&, I thought tried to correct but apparently I missed what looks like a whole bunch.

sad equals s s d
hid equals h h d

But other than autocorrect and msata vs m.2, any thoughts/suggestions?
