I'm pretty sure my laptop has window 7 and the hard disk gave out before I had a chance to back up. Is there any easy way to start up just long enough to back up pictures and document...I have tried to kind of reordered the boot start up but so far no luck...????

gotta attach it to another computer after start up. see if windows find it or not. shut down and reboot. see if windows sees it. then you might be able to recover stuff if you're lucky.
