Hello everybody, I may need some assistance .
I have an asrock b85 pro 4 and I try to update my BIOS from version 1.30 to 2.00 but as soon as I click on the instalation file and agree to restart the computer, my PC restarts as intended but the updating process doesn't start. It simply shows me a screen with black background with the name of the motherboard in the center of the screen and 4 options in the bottom right corner of the screen : press F2 or Del to enter stetup, TAB to switch screens and two others...
If I press either F2 or Del I hear a sound ( can not describe it) and then the PC freezes. If I press reset, and press TAB instead , it sends me into a screen which shows me the BIOS version, CPU version if i remember, and also the first two options ( F2 or Del).Again, if i press those buttons my PC freezes. I managed to revert to the earlier state by tinkering with the three little jumpers.
I've never experimented with BIOS so i have no experience whatsoever. I just downloaded the BIOS update from this site http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/B85%20Pro4/?cat=Download&os=BIOS. Should I upgrade the BIOS one version at a time or directly to 2.00?

You can update the BIOS (flash) directly to the newest version or any other version that you prefer. Detailed instructions to do so will be available from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

You must be very sure about what you are doing and follow the instructions accurately in order to avoid huge problems.

Well here is the catch... I actually did follow the instructions to the letter, even shutting down some unimportant processes in addition to shutting down all programs. But the problem still persists even after reinstalling the windows. But I chose the non-USB method. Should I use an USB storage device?

Different motherboard manufacturers have different methods of updating the BIOS. Some have multiple methods of doing it. Pick the method of your choice and follow the instructions.

I have done it successfully a few times on EVGA motherboards and on Dell motherboards. Don't know Asrock's method.
