Recently installed Windows 8.1 Pro. Got some questions

Hi,

So, I have Windows 8.1 pro installed now. But what about the login screen? Is it connected to my hotmail/microsoft account?? What if I dont have a internet connection, am I unable to login on my computer then?..

And the graphics or colours.. I dont know really, but it is something that looks weird.. Less quality than windows 7.. Like, almost blurry or something.. And yea, I have latest GPU drivers installed.

And one more question. I made sure that I got a windows.old folder with all my stuff. Im currently trying to install BF4 without required to actually _download_ it again. But is that even possible?y Cuz im getting a VC++ runtime redist package error (couldnt install)...

Edit - Ok, the BF4 issue has been fixed!

It's installed now =) But all other questions remains active

As to the login question, it depends on how you set up windows. If you sign in with a "Microsoft account" - an email address - it lets you use the store and the email app will automatically sync to that address, also it will let you use the OneDrive storage. It should login without an active connection (it will remember the password locally) and wait to go online to sync.

You get 2 GB of OneDrive cloud storage free with 8.1 (more can be bought or comes with an Office 365 subscription if you need or want more). The MS account becomes more useful when you have more than one 8/8.1 PC (or tablet) since it syncs files and settings between them via onedrive.

However, there is the option to use it with a local account. It's not the way 8.1 wants to be set up by default.

I turned off every cloud and sync setting I could find. I dont like that crap features. My pc is a gaming rig, and the only reason I installed Windows 8.1 is cuz of BF4 runs good on it.

Alright. Even if it a MS account it should log on offline though in your case you might as well switch to a local account if it's not set as one now
