hi, I have had my 780 for about three months and I have noticed in many games its performance is erratic. In Dota 2 it had 50 fps but the clock is very low as is gpu usage. I turned off vsync in the nvidia panel but it seems to have no effect. Also, the nvdia panel stops responding when i try to change a setting and this has happened for a moth or two. Lastly, i bought watch dogs, and the gameplay is smooth while gpu is at 99% but then it randomly goes up and down which causes a lot of lag. I am almost regreting my switch to nvidia. The only game that runs smooth and stable is Battlefield 4 ironicaly.
System Specs: Fx-8150
650 watt psu
8 gb ram
Sabertooth 990fx
gtx 780

You could likely get an i5-4790k (Which is Devil's Canyon, I know), but in the event that it is not out, the i5-4670k would be your best bet. Pair it with a Z97 motherboard for that just in case situation where you might want an i5-4790k.

SLI 780s look great. I personally have two in SLI and I have absolutely no issue running any game whatsoever. Never experienced any graphical issues or bugs that many people experienced at launch of certain games (BF4, cough).

That wouldn't make sense because it happens in dota 2 as well which is a very low cpu intensive game. Also my drivers are kept up to date through the Geforce experience.

What do you suggest i do then? In a month I might upgrade to a new build. What would be the best possible haswell processor around $500? Also how do 780 sli look?
Also, when I had my hd 7770 crossfire, i ran dota at 100+ fps

i7 would likely be overkill for gaming. But if you want the i7, more power to you. And that's a question only you can answer. Do you plan on overclocking? If yes, wait for the K verion, if no, the i7-4790 would be a great choice.
