I recently got a new wi-fi extender and It is asking me to press the WPS button to let them connect, I know where the button is and all but I hear that it is risky to open up my WPS so is it okay if I turn it on and after my wi-fi extender is connected to just turn it off? I am not very good with electronics so if I ask any stupid questions feel free to correct me, thanks!

Solution
The push button type is only active for a few minutes or until 1 device connects.

Even if you disable it some routers don't really disable it.
I disable it in all my routers, as well as plug and play.

So you have to enter a pin number.
The safest routers, run aftermarket firmware, like Tomato, or dd-wrt.

Have to agree make sure you have the latest patches. Some router even when they said it was disabled they would accept the pin number.

It "should" work to disable it after you are done in your router. I really hate this feature and wish they would remove it from all routers. But like normal the stupid people of this world can't be left out so all of us must suffer because they are too stupid to key in a userid and password.
