i just installed linux Ubuntu to my alienware x51 on Sda1 a few days ago and have been trying to get grub to find the file. Windows 7 was pre installed on the sdb (I Think) partition i have used boot-repair and it did nothing. I do have a windows 7 install disc (cracked) but the repair option can't find my OS as it only boots in legacy. i tried editing my 40_custom and i got error:invalid EFI path.
I also burned a system repair disc from my dads window 7 laptob (64 bit , Just like mine) even that only boots in legacy.

If it's a cracked version of Windows you want help with then you won't get it here.
Update: May have been a little hasty in closing the thread by assuming the worst. Did not take into account you may or do have a legitmate Windows key.
Do you think the install disc could be the problem? If yes, have tried downloading a copy from Microsoft?

update-grub
If the windows launcher is there grub will add it. If still no go you can use gparted to look at the partition to see i it's ok. You should also be able to see the files of the windows partition from the places folder, again, not knowing what version of linux I can't be more specific. You can download a recovery console for win 7, search rc.iso win7
