First of, hello and thanks for your time. I'm not really a computer person but I do have some above-basic knowledge. So without further ado. My problem:
A while back my Internet started failing sporadically, at first it was infrequent and it only failed for a short time. but it keeps getting more frequent and the downtime only gets longer:
These are all the details I can provide:
-Whenever it fails the internet seems to work for a little while. Pages seem to be loading but the little spinning circle (I'm using chrome) on the left of the tab just spins counter-clockwise for a long time until it finally shows a "network not available" message. Also when it crashes Skype doesn't show as disconnected until about 30 seconds pass, but calls fail and instant messages don't go through.
-It happens more frequently at night. The later in the day the more it fails. When I get home at about 4pm there's almost no problems but at around 7 it starts going downhill. By 10pm connection has been lost entirely.
-Restarting the router doesn't help.
-Disabling antivirus doesn't help.
-The lights on the router behave like this: both the power and the WLAN lights are constantly on. Though the WLAN light occasionally flickers. The ADSL light is on when there's no connection, and may be off or flickering when it's down. The Internet light constantly flickers when there's good connection. And is off when it's down. Sometimes it's on without any flickering, when this happens there may or may not be a connection (that's the weirdest part for me, it only works for sure if it's flickering)
-I am using a HUAWEI router for a wi-fi connection. I don't know what other information about it is required or how to find it.
-I have called the ISP several times for similar problems and whenever they come the Internet works fine for a few days and then starts failing again
These things seems to trigger downtime (these are all anecdotal, they may be unrelated):
-Thunderstorms, I disconnect everything when they happen but there still seems to be a correlation.
-Opening too many tabs at once.
-The phone ringing (it's a wireless phone so I don't know if that's related)
