Hey guys,

Just having trouble with my PC - suspect it's a GPU issue but wanna be sure before I request an RMA.

Story: Recently bought a R9 280x Toxic to replace my 560ti. Was working fine for about a week (had some weird red flickering while playing BF4 but a quick Google search said it was a driver issue, updated drivers to 14.4 and no more flickering).

Any who, my PC was just sitting there at login screen, and I went away for dinner. Came back, wiggled my mouse and no picture. Thought PC was failing to wake from sleep so I restarted and again absolutely no picture =[

Definitely looks like a graphics card issue to me but thought I'd ask for tips on what to check to confirm that's the culprit.

So far I've the following with no luck:

- Tried different 3 monitors
- Tried different cable (DVI + HDMI)
- Reseated the card and PSU connections
- Removed all but one stick of RAM
- Tried a different slot on the MB
- Tried my old GPU in my PC and it boots fine
- Booted up with just CPU, SSD, 1 stick of RAM and the card in case it was a PSU issue

Also just adding in there, the lights and fans from the GPU all still work fine...just no picture. The monitor detects when it is plugged in or unplugged from the GPU also if that helps.

Don't have another PC that can handle the card (PSU wise) so can't really test that.

My system specs are

FX8350
M5A99X EVO R2.0
FSP AURUM 750W
280x Toxic
Corsair LP RAM 16GB
120Gb SSD + 2 x 1TB storage

The CPU, Mobo, and RAM are all about 3 months old so fairly sure those aren't the issue especially when it all boots fine with a different GPU.

Would appreciate any help!

Thanks

With all those tests, it does seem like it is the graphics card that is the problem. Your PSU is easily enough, and if it had died, your system wouldn't work with another card.
RMA time!

Good luck. I don't remember any notable horror stories about Sapphire RMAs, so hopefully it will go smoothly.
