System specs:
Asrock 970 extreme 4
AMD FX-8150
Radeon HD 7850
2 x 4 gb RAM (800 mHz) (AMD Entertainment Edition)
2 x 120 gb SSD
2 x 7200 rpm hard drives
600W PSU (LC6600 V2.2)

It's been a long story with this system. I had serious heat issues when I bought it, but after replacing the stock CPU cooler with an aftermarket cooler (Xigmatec Aegir) and rebuilding the whole thing into a Fractal R4 case with extra fans that probably isn't the issue anymore.

The problem is that while playing some games (Diablo 3, Bioshock) the computer will sometimes shut down. No throttle, no BSOD, no warning. It just turns off completely. If I try to just turn it on again nothing happens (no fans moving, no LEDs, no beeps).
I have to turn off the PSU, remove the powercord, replace the powercord, turn back on the PSU and then I can turn on the machine again.

Idling/light activities (browsing, office etc.) causes no problems.

Playing lighter games (League of Legends, Age of Empires etc.) causes no problems.

Pushing the system with Prime 95 and Furmark simultaneously causes no problems.
Max temps under full load are:
CPU core temp ~44C
CPU "cputin" ~69C
GPU ~70C
Those are the highest I've seen after rebuilding, and that was with fairly high ambient temperature on a hot day.

I haven't tested RAM yet in any way.

But I'm thinking that either it's...
- faulty PSU
- system draws too much power under load? (testing with Prime 95 and Furmark doesn't create RAM/drive activity I guess)
- or alternatively, I think I've got 4 case fans (2x120mm, 2x140mm) running on one molex. I've got no idea if that's too much on one.

Hope somebody's got an idea. I'll happily provide more info or pics or the build if needed :)

Thanks!

(oops, somehow managed to double post)

Solution
I would not doubt that it is a PSU problem since your PSU only outputs 360w total on the 12v rail (source for the GPU and CPU). More than likely, your system is drawing more power under heavy loads (like gaming) than what your power supply can actually provide.

Your fans probably don't total up to the maximum a single molex can handle.

I would point fingers at your first two ideas. Either you are exceeding the power supply's rating under heavy load or the supply is faulty.

I can't find a whole lot of information about it, but given that they only offer the single 8pin PCIe connector, it is not a highly rated design. Your total 12V output is only 348W. Good power supply manufacturers would call this a 380W or 420W supply rather then adding the over sized 5V output to the total. (Their own stats show the total including then nearly un-used 3.3V line totaling only 587W)

First step would be to buy or borrow a better power supply and experiment.
