Cannot setup a second monitor with my 30'' Proscan HDTV as the main monitor

I wanted to setup 2 monitors with my 30" as the main monitor. The HDTV worked as the main monitor, but my compaq monitor does not show up so i went to the Nvidia control panel to try and detect the monitor myself but it didn't do anything. I rebooted and still nothing happened

GT 635 has Hdmi and VGA and both monitors are doing vga to vga, I am new to this and would like to have two monitors

Try cycling your second monitor off and back on. I sometimes have to do that with my Samsung.

Sad to say, I have encountered this exact problem before, but I cannot for the life of me recall how I eventually solved it. Still, have hope. Someone else with a better memory will come along.
