I have 6gb of ram and when i open task manager it also says 6gb available, yet when only 1.8gb of it is being used for games/internet pages being used. So it says 64% of memory is being used and that 3.8 out of 6gb are used. In the performance tba of task manager it tells me that 2gb of memory is cached.

So what is this cached memory for? and is it making my pc slower by using up memory or something?

Solution
It's cached so that those files can be read again much faster than reading from a HDD or SSD. Ideally you want all of your RAM utilized, so caching is a good thing.
