Hey everyone,

Short story shorter, I had to RMA a motherboard so I removed the CPU (i5 4460) and fan from the motherboard. Since I had to store the CPU and fan for a few days I wiped all of the thermal paste off of both parts, using rubbing alcohol.

Since there is no stock thermal paste left, is it fine to use after market thermal paste on a stock Intel fan? The paste I bought is the Arctic MX-2. I would assume this wouldn't be an issue, but figured I might as well double check to be safe.

Thanks!

Yes its perfectly safe.
After market thermal paste is way better than the one brought by the stock cooler, it can drop your temps and it will last longer.(yes, thermal paste tends to dry over time)
