Hey guys, recently bought a 290x and I'm being offered the two above mentioned power supplies (they are used, but still under warranty).

Antec HCG-850M - 850W - for $70

OR

PC & Power Cooling Silencer Mk II - 750W - for $50

Which one should I go with?

Both of them are in tier 2A: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1804779/power-...

So the question is: Do you really need 850W or is 750W enough (what is your system)?

750W is more than enough for my system as I'm only powering a single card. If I do end up going crossfire in the future, will the 850W suffice, or will I have to upgrade further?

If I have to upgrade further, I might as well get the 750 because its just as "futureproof" as the 850.

Depends on your exact specs.

I have an intel i7 4930k, 4gb ram, 250g sata harddrive.

Also, what is your display picture?

Go with the HCG if you are thinking maybe xfire in the future, or the p&c if not

I'd stick with the Antec - don't believe another company picked up PC Pwr in their parent
OCZ's bankruptcy proceedings. Much better prospects id you need service with the Antec.

That's really cool lol.

So you guys think the 850W would be enough to crossfire?

Yes, if you are gaming and not bitcoin mining.

850 is the minimum, but the Antec is built by Seasonic, so specs out above the average, it'll do fine as long as you don't plan on some crazy maxed out OC and hours of stress testing with furmark. For intense gaming you won't max out either the cards power potential or the psu's.
