I've got my new built pc, and then when I started the system for the 2nd time (Adjusting neon lighting) The PSU worked fine for about 3 mins then it made a bang sound, and the computer shutoff. I tried restarting, but it didn't work. What should I do? Here are my specs:

MSI Z87 G43 Gaming motherboard
GTX 780
i7 4770
16GB corsair vengeance
CX 750 PSU
Samsung 1tb HDD

Don't worry, it was just a month off on its fourth of July celebration. Did it shoot out any flames or anything? Any smoke in fun colors? I would send it back. They should not do that. However, make sure that none of the neon lights are blown. That would be bad.

It's possible that you have a short somewhere in your case. I strongly suggest that you remove every component and check over every square inch of everything for scorch marks and melting.

BTW, CX is Corsairs budget series, built on the cheap by Channel Well Tech. They have lower grade components such as capacitors. It's possible that a cap popped.

Loud bang sounds like a blown cap to me.

I remember the paper caps would really go off like firecrackers, paper confetti and all :)

As I said, fourth of July a little early.

When I replugged it, i saw some sparks coming from the interior of the PSU, No smoke, as I could see. I just moved the lights around to fit my preference. Their was a weird smell though. As something was burning inside the PSU.

Of course you plugged it back in...

Not kidding this is like the 4th CX I saw go out with a bang this week on various forums. People keep buying them because it has a Corsair sticker on them, and bastard OEMs like Cyberpower continue to mass produce rigs with them.

It is bullshit. This is the second CX 750 I had, the one before also stopped working.

Gave it the benefit of the doubt twice? Bigbird-57 is going to have a field day when he reads this :)

I thought it was something I did. So I just bought a new one. I just hope my other components are ok.

Yeah hopefully it didn't take down your nice stuff. If going for Corsair, go with the AX. If not, go with something Super Flower.

'Yeah hopefully it didn't take down your nice stuff' you say that as if something did get damaged........ other than the PSU

The Power Supply always says "Not responsible for damages" otherwise I don't think they could stay in business.
