Now i have a 7850.
I cant get 60 fps in bf4 even in ultralow settings.
The benchmark with 7850 in the web gets 60 fps in medium settings.
Well then, My cpu is i5650, pretty old i know.
Its possible that the cpu is bottlenecking the gpu so hard?
Should i upgrade the cpu?
Im going to change the gpu, maybe to a 280x or something like that.
Should i change the cpu first?
Thank you.

Yes, that CPU is definitely a bottleneck.

(i5-650 is pretty much equal to i3-2100)

Look at the picture I provided in my first post: The difference is over 20fps in minimum and average fps.

What is your current motherboard? You might be better off going to Ebay and finding an i7 860/870/875/880. New mainboard often means new copy of Windows as well. Gen 1 i7's are still plenty capable and would be better than FX. Going from one dead platform to another makes little sense.

Ouch, yea that won't help you any. So you will be needing case, CPU, Motherboard, and windows then. I would not go FX though. Go with an i3 4150 and an H97 pro4 at minimum, or save up for an i5. At least then you have an upgrade path. AM3+ is essentially dead.

What is budget for CPU and Motherboard? The FX 6300 needs to be well overclocked to beat a Haswell i3. The lack of any upgrade path is another downside to FX now that AMD has no plans for another AM3+ CPU. Current chips are as good as you are going to get. At least with an H97 or Z97 board you have an upgrade path to Broadwell.

PCpartpicker seems to be having issues right now. Pretty much any H97 or Z97 board will do, as long as it has the features you are looking for. Brand wise, I would stick with Gigabyte, Asrock, or Asus. MSI is ok too, if that is all you are able to find. You have to go with H97 or Z97 for future broadwell support.

Here is a comparison between your chip and the i3 4330, which runs the same clock speed as the 4150. (The 4150 is a Haswell refresh chip) Really the best I could find for comparison. The cinebench benchmarks are probably the most relevant to your question. PC partpicker still hating me today. It has been hit an miss for a couple hours or so now. I might be able to squeeze an i5 4440 into the build, if the site would just work for me....

Don't get the i3. it can only do 2 physical threads. But a 6300 or a 8350 can do six or an eight physical threads. Battlefield 4 will use all those cores to a greater potential than it could ever use the i3. Hope this helps!
