Can I use a GTX 750TI and a 9800 GTX+ in the same computer? I am not looking to do SLI, I only want to use the 9800 for additional monitors.

The 750 supports 3 and my 9800 supports 2. I have 3 monitors. I was thinking I could put my main monitor on the 750 and the other 3 on the 9800 . That way I can use my main monitor for my intensive stuff (games) and the other monitors that don't see a lot of load can run on the 9800.

Is that possible or advisable?

Reason for the question is I used to have two of the 9800's so I could run 3 monitors. Now I have them laying around and if I could use one to make my main 750 preform better I would prefer to do that. (Just built a new computer)

Thank you.

The Nvidia driver supports this just fine. All that matters is that the primary monitor that you designate in the driver is attached to the right video card, and the driver will assign gaming to the proper card without question. The driver even lets you assign a second, non-SLI video card to be a discrete PhysX processor, and maybe the 9800 GTX is fast enough for that to be worthwhile.

The bigger concern is that your power supply is up to the task of powering two video cards. The old 9800 GTX uses almost thrice the power of the GTX 750 (140 W vs. 55 W), so make sure you've got good a trustworthy PSU and enough PCI-E power connectors available. Its probably going to be relatively hot and loud, too.

It might be better to just buy a...

Yes you can do this but keep in mind the GPUs will not be working together. The 750 will run without the help of the 9800 and the other way around. So, yes, you can do that just make sure you have enough space in your rig for them.

Awesome. Thank you for the detail. That is good to hear, as I do not want them to work together.

However, will having the two different cards cause a driver issue? Can Windows support two different display drivers?

It might be better to just buy a Geforce 210 on sale for $15-25 if all you want is for it to drive some monitors.
