Downgrade windows 8.1 pro to windows 8.1

My laptop came with windows 8.1 pro trial and it was only a few days later that i found out about it and by that time I have already bought windows 8.1.
How do I downgrade from pro to just 8.1 without losing any data and software?
P.S. I don't need the pro version either.

Strange situation! Presumably when the 'trial' period ends it asks you to stump up for a Product Key?
Well, you'll probably have to clean install your 8.1 Standard edition, but you could preserve your data by shifting it on to a newly created Data Partition if you don't have the means to back up to an external device. Meanwhile for best results you would be advised to clean install to unallocated space on your HDD, that means deleting all partitions (Except your Data partition if you create one) and installing to the resultant Unallocated Space.
Another alternative would be to keep the 8.1 Pro and sell the unwanted Standard edition on Amazon or Ebay...has the advantage of avoiding having to download Drivers and re-installing Software etcetera....
I know of no means of downgrading your 8.1 Pro to Standard...only 8.1 Pro to Windows 7 Pro...
