Use AX860I without its software

I was thinking of buying a Corsair AX860I, but was wondering (beause it includes the usb dongle for its link software) if it actually needs to be pulgged into the usb header to work. What I mean is that my future motherboard may not have a spare USB header so I was wondering if the psu still functions normally without the usb cable plugged in and without the special software.

The psu would work fine without it.You just wouldn't have the ability to monitor the voltages of the psu or monitor the temps or controll them=speed of the fan,now it has to do it on it's own which isn't necessarely a bad thing.
