CPU temp/cooling question

So I have a pentium d 945. And it idles around late 40's-60c and I know pentium d's are known to run fairly hot but I know that temp range isn't too great. A lot of times it's mostly around in the 50's-early 60c. But my fan and everything seems to be working okay but I don't know if it'd really good or if I like it getting that hot. My cpu can stay idling around late 50's 60's and the fan is only running at around 500-700 rpm but when it starts getting further in the 60's-70c I'll hear it just then start speeding right up and it seems to cool it all the way back down to the 50's pretty fast. So I know it seems to be working well.. I guess it wouldn't hurt to maybe try reapplying some thermal paste to the cpu, the fan and heatsink is clean. Shouldn't or wouldn't it be better though if my fan was running a little bit faster more often and not letting it get so high? It kicks in well when it wants to and works but yeah.. Maybe I could use software to try and change the speed or in my bios the only options I see are that I can change are, fan control which I *think I can turn on or off, and a setting to set the minimum fan speed/percentage I think it was.

Should I just not worry about any of this like the fan is doing it's job and it's fine or maybe I should try to change those settings in the bios and increase the fan speed or with some sort of software? Honestly noise isn't really a problem for me I don't really mind. Lately it's been running really quiet I just got a new psu and gpu I was used to it running louder before now I only hear the cpu fan barely and when it speeds up. I could always try to rig up more fans as well but if I can possibly just change this fan's speed and make it work better/faster it might just be all good with that.. Also all the other temps seem fine.

Thanks for any replies :)
