I have an Asus Maximus VI Impact. My computer was shutting down every thirty minutes exactly and after a lot of troubleshooting I found out my motherboard was causing the issue. Now, I was wondering, has anyone ever experienced a computer turning off at an exact time after start up due to a motherboard before? And would my best option be to try the warranty or just buy a new board all together?

Your motherboard has 3 year warranty just call ASUS and they will have it repaired for you.

1) Contact Asus Technical Support to be sure

2) Ask about cross-shipping or the similar method of temporarily paying with VISA (would be reimbursed) so they send a motherboard + packaging then you send yours back.

*Not sure if Asus supports this but better than being without your PC completely.

3) Troubleshooting (try all):
a) update BIOS if newer exists
b) reset Factory Defaults
c) Clear CMOS
e) run MEMTEST

Worth trying even if you're pretty sure of the issue.

f) TEMPERATURE?
Monitor with core temp and/or the Asus software (Thermal Radar?).

g) Burn an Ubuntu DVD and boot to it with all HDD/SSD drives physically unhooked (both cables from rear of drives). If PC still crashes it's a HARDWARE issue. If not, probably a SOFTWARE issue.

h) Use the iGPU in your CPU instead of graphics card (eliminate graphics card as possible issue).

The last thing I did was boot the motherboard with no cpu, no ram, and no GPU. It died after thirty minutes. I've tried a different power supply. No hard drives were connected during any of the tests.

I guess boot is the wrong word there, I powered the motherboard on naturally all that happened was the little Q-code panel was lit up and the PSU power light was on. They both shut off after thirty minutes of being on, though.

All hard drives were unplugged after I figured out it wasn't software related. I've tried every version of the bios, dating back to first release and the newest download. Temperatures were monitored in BIOS while waiting for it to shutdown, everything was running stable below 40 degrees Celsius. Ran memtest and cleared the CMOS.

Only issue about the warranty is I'm afraid it might be voided. I have a bent pin inside my usb 3.0 connection on the motherboard that happened six months ago when I first got the board. I installed the connector in sideways and the board is SUPER cramped when everything is in my Bitfenix Prodigy.

Thanks for the help so far. I'm going to head off to bed for now and check back in the morning since it's almost 3am.
