hii i have 8 gb Corsair vengence 1600 mhz ram but m pc is still slow??

Hello friends
I m using haswell based pc.
Cpu- i5- 4670
Mobo- Asus h87 plus
Ram- Corsair vengeance 2 X 4gb 1600 mhz
Hdd- Hitachi 1tb 7200 rpm.
OS- windows 7 Ultimate

But guys my pc is still slow. Sometimes its copying speeds remains only 3-4mbps & t takes so much time when i extract the rar files with winrar.
Any idea what is problem with my pc.??

Ok let me rephrase that...

The HDD maybe dying due to accumulation of bad sectors, thus the low disk performance.

The Ram has nothing to do with the read/write speed of your computer.

I suggested the SSD as for comparisson and upgrade for your current pc.

Why do you suggest him to buy a SSD ?
He's getting only 3-4 mbps copying speed on HDD which is not even close to what it should be ~ 30-40.

Download a software to check your hdd (google it, you'll find plenty), and check your hard disk for errors.

It is POSSIBLE, but only if the files inside the RAR file are extremely small.

Download ATTO and run it: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/atto_disk_benchmark.html

*I'm getting over 20MBytes/second on my Seagate drive for Write/Read if the files are only 0.5 Megabytes. At 4MBytes (four MegaBytes) my Read/Write is almost maximum speed.

The MAXIMUM for that 7200RPM drive is likely around 120MBytes/second. My 3TB Seagate gets 160MB/sec.

Thus, I think you have another problem, possibly a DRIVER issue. Troubleshooting (not in order):

1) MAIN CHIPSET driver should be installed from the motherboard site
2) Install any SATA controllers if needed
3) Test all drives (if only one, BORROW one if possible or connect yours to a different PC just to test with ATTO. Don't boot to the drive though)
4) Test every SATA controller (try each COLOR if more than one. The INTEL might be all BROWN, and a Gigabyte might be all RED for example).

5) BIOS update if newer exists (may need to change back some settings)
6) run MEMTEST www.memtest.org

7) Run DIAGNOSTIC utility (non-destructive) https://www2.hgst.com/hdd/support/download.htm

Not sure which tests to run. There are also utilities with the ULTIMATEBOOTCD which is useful to test outside of Windows. www.ultimatebootcd.com

*Again, no destructive testing.

8) Make sure in DEVICE MANAGER it's in UDMA mode, but I doubt that's the issue. I haven't seen that since XP/W98 days.

Sorry for late reply guys i lost my internet conection. Few minutes ago i got it back . I m using mobile so net is not fast.

There is no clicking sound in hdd bro

lets start from ATTO test..

Those numbers are exactly what you should be getting.

The 15MB/second represents reading and writing when dealing with really small files. The reason it's slower than the larger files is because the drive is mechanical so there's a delay when the read/write head has to move (called "seek time"). It's also the reason why you defragment a hard drive; to put the files contiguous so the head doesn't have to jump around.

*Now, a COMPRESSED file can longer though I haven't sat down and timed it (in some cases it can be faster as well due to taking up less space provided the CPU is processing fast enough). It also depends on the level of compression. You can compress files in WINRAR for example from "STORE" (no compression) up to "BEST" (highest compression which takes longer).

So, I'm unsure if anything is actually wrong. Your hard drive ATTO benchmark is correct.

Also, writing to the SAME drive takes roughly 2x as long. The benchmark writes from a different location I believe so divide all scores in half if working with the same drive. It will take even LONGER if your computer was doing anything intensive already on the hard drive like an antivirus scan.

Then still didnt get that why the copying speed is slow??
I simply copy a movie of around 1 gb to sd card n pen drive then i just get max. 5mb copying speed...
