Hi all!

Im new here so apologies if posted in the incorrect place.

Im not that good with computers but have a limited budget and managed to pick up a pc quite cheap.

Core 2 Quad 8200
8GB RAM
Windows 7

The current card is the onboard motherboard one. Im looking to buy a upgraded GPU.

My friend told me the GTX 750 1GB is a good buy and a low power consumption card so I would not need to upgrade my PSU. I can get this for £75.

Or another friend is selling a VTX3D HD 7870 2GB for £80, I would need to upgrade my PSU for this but the question I have is, Im looking to play FSX with add ons etc etc. Would the AMD card give me better FPS and graphics, If so would the difference be worth say an extra £40 in total (by the time I buy the PSU)

Thanks very much for your help everyone.

Ryan

The AMD card would give you more fps assuming your CPU would not bottleneck. I'm not sure if the c2q would bottleneck or not, but I'm thinking it might. But difference might be a decent amount if it doesn't bottle neck.

Any ideas people? Am I wasting money going for the AMD? Thanks.

I would go for the AMD, even if it does bottleneck (Hard to say if it will or not) It will still most likely be better.

If going with the AMD card means you have to upgrade your PSU, then I'd go with the 750. The performance increase wouldn't be worth that much extra money in my opinion. Save the extra money for when you decide to do a new system build.
