2x [4GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1333 CL9 (RED)]

2 years ago I bought a single stick of this ram

then yesterday I bought another single stick of this ram so to make a 2x4GB RAM Configuration

But when I installed the new stick of ram(therefore making it 2x4GB), windows wont boot up

I removed the old stick of ram and windows still wont boot up

I inserted my old stick of ram again and removed the new stick of ram, windows booted up

Can the stick of ram I bought be faulty?

Or is this caused by compatibility issues?

Is there a need for me to update my BIOS to make this stick of ram work?

Thanks in advance

  4. all seems fine
    2 x DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR3 1333/1066 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
did you say you tried just the new stick on its own because it is compatible with your board

the new stick is likely faulty then , especially seeing as the other stick is exactly the same specs and is compatible , i would suggest return it for replacement
