Hello and thanks in advance :)

I've been trying to over clock my CPU for a while now but I'm having no luck. There always used to be an option CPU over drive in the AMD CCC that I've always ignore. Now that I want to overclock my CPU the option has gone. I've tried...

Uninstall and re-install (CPU over drive shows up after I accept the warnings then disappears)

Driver sweeper clean (in safe mode)

Updating the AMD CCC version (currently at 14.6)

This is getting very annoying and very quickly, the number of computer reboots is killing me.

Ah, it just seems a little less complicated than having to reinstall, clear drivers, uninstall programs, reinstall drivers, reinstall programs, etc. Just go into bios, raise the clock by .2ghz, until it is no longer stable, then go back down .1ghz, if its stable there with good temps then leave it there. Then you can lower voltage (to get better temps, adaptive makes the voltage a lot more than it should be) until it is no longer stable, then raise it up a little, and go from there.

Yeah looks like I might have to do it this way. When I was over clocking it in AMD CCC it got up to 4.5ghz before it became unstable, I really just want it to be at 4.0ghz what do you think? Its an AMD FX 4100 3.6ghz.

Also how do I do this through BIOS? is it during start up?

There is a different issue at work here and I would love to know the real cause, and the real solution.
my notebook is HP m6, has the A10-4600m chipset. It will manifest the ugly "Display Driver Stopped responding" issue for which there is a workaround IF CCC has the Overdrive function so that the Preset defaults have coreclock target settings

AMD CCC's "overdrive" function has nothing to do with system-level [mboard] clocks to my knowledge. its for graphics cards/parts, whether they are installed on amd motherboards or something else.

I'm baffled as to why amd would defeat such a necessary function on THEIR OWN REFERENCE SPEC? this motherboard is mostly AMD - their chipset, their smbus, their bridges, mem controller, sata controller, etc etc etc

looking for a real answer

Hello,

Ok.
Close catalyst control center if it's open.
Go go to services manager in windows (by control panel or by typing services.msc in "execute").
Search for AMD Fuel Service.
Right click on it and click restart.
Open catalyst control center, and voilà it should appear in Performances.

I'm a little disappointed that no one has thought of services...
Why make it simple when it can be complicated...huh?!

Have a nice day.

Hello Everyone,

Dear Terry even if you do that after you restart the PC, you will have the same issue.

This is whati did and i fixed the issue with Overdrive

Go to Task Manager and stop all that have to do with the Catalyst Manager

Go to your Apps find the Catalyst Control Center, right click and run it as administrator.

Go back now to your CCC and you will see the Overdrive.

Since CCC is running on the start of the PC, go again to the application right click , properties , compatibility , and select run as administrator

Many thanks
Pambos
