Hello,

I have a newish PC that I have had since Febuary / Early March, It cost me just under £1000.

Specs:

AMD FX 8350
XFX r9 280x 3GB GPU
1TB HDD
8GB RAM
so on...

When I first got the computer I expected 300 fps + as someone I know has that with a lower spec pc. I was disappointed slightly when I only got 200-250 average (not bad). But then the FPS started to drop, it dropped down to 150+ then to 100fps and now its dropping more and more frequently to 40-80fps ... I know that most of this is playable. But I payed a lot of money for this computer and I don't want it to be bad after a couple of months.

I use Optifine as well as when I don't its only around 80-100fps (That was when I first got the computer). I play at 1080P. This PC gets amazing FPS on the more demanding games at the highest game settings.

Any help will be appreciated.

Try limiting the fps limit in the minecraft settings, it should help because you only need 90 fps to run minecraft at its highest and any higher is useless and a waste of ram because minecraft is so simple it doesnt need huge fps like battlefield or something.
