Hi, i'm wondering which one is better.

as far as i know ati cards have always problem with games starting today with Watch dogs with FPS drop or artifacts in graphics but when we see in BF4 mentle its good.

I'm fun of nVidia due to up to date drivers and good performance of their GPU's and ofc shadowPlay but if r9 290 is better then gtx 780 i will go with that i guess.

For the price difference (generally quite large), the R9 290 comes out best, depending on the resolution you have, if above 1080p, the R9 290 may be better for you due to the wider bus and extra 1GB GDDR5 Vram. Both cards take blows in different areas, so I have no shame in recommending either, both great choices.

i agree with that the both cards are great. but for 1080p gaming which one is better without having problems with drivers or games....

Hi GizmoMKD,

I would personally go for the Sapphire 290 due to the higher Vram (which seems to be a requirement now for upcoming games like watch dogs and Wolfenstein) and the price which will be lower for the AMD card.
Sapphire also make some brilliant cards and are basically on par with EVGA for quality.

At the end of the day though, both cards will run very well and different games will run slightly better on each card.
Mantle seems to be working very well in some cases and AMD have just released what they are calling Eyefinity 3.0 which supports multi resolutions if your interested in Multi monitor gaming, again the AMD cards have proven their worth in this area against Nvidia.

If you are still having trouble deciding, the best thing to do is look up the benchmarks on the specific games your interested in playing and compare how each of the cards perform on those games.

Hope this helps.

Drivers, Nvidia tend to have the better ones most of the time, but is it really worth the cost of the GTX 780 over the R9 290 for the better drivers in games and performance, no.

The r9 290 is certainly better in the clock and vram, but the gtx 780 is 50 dollars more on amazon and it has way better cooling and quality material than the r9 290.

They are almost the same level of performance, but i should recomend the 780 because of the cooling and overclock capabilities.
check these benchmarks:

OC is not my interest, when it came to cooling it's important. how bad is sapphire tri-x cooling?

but Watch Dogs is not playable for most of Ati GPU'S now with 14.6 drivers. so do i have to wait patches drivers always for any new game?
