I need help to connect a new Samsung printer and a new Asus WLAN router directly so that I can print from my Android smartphone without going through a computer.

Printer: Samsung Xpress M2825DW
Router: Asus RT-AC68U AC1900 WLAN

The WLAN router is upstairs in the living room and the printer is in the basement to which there is no network cable but the WLAN signal is is strong enough.

I can't figure out how to connect them without going through a computer. Frustrating because I bought the WLAN printer specifically to print from my Android smartphone through the WLAN router.

Searching for solutions I found this discouraging link http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/63686-asus-rt-ac68u-pce-ac68-802-11ac-review-8.html , quote: "On the printer side of the equation the RT-AC68 is a mixed bag of frustration and missed potential."

Has anybody managed to succeed in what I'm trying to do? If I can't find a solution, probably I am going to return the printer to Amazon, if they accept it - I have unpacked it and printed some test pages from Windows.

Thanks !

The problem is that there's no android-compatible network printing driver for the Samsung printer, and that's got be installed on any device you want to print from, even for wireless printing, unless you are able to set up your Android device as part of your Windows home network for file and printer sharing, which I don't think Android supports.

Okay... It seems buying a Samsung printer was a bad idea for my purpose. I will try to return it to Amazon and change it to a different one.

Can a particular brand/model be recommended?
