Hi, i seem to be getting a black screen after installing a MSI GeForce GTX 650 onto my MSI FM2-A85XA-G65 motherboard. I am running a 700w power supply to go with it and followed all the instructions correctly. The fan is spinning on the graphics card and i connected the power cable supplies. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Does the bios screen appear at all, or does nothing show at all?

Does the onboard graphics still work when the GTX 650 is installed? If so, you might need to tweak your bios to make sure the correct graphics settings and enabled/disabled

Thankyou for the reply :)
I dont see the bios screen on startup it is just all black at the moment and the onboard graphics doesnt work either when i switch the vga cable from the graphics card port to the motherboard port.

in that case it sounds like your system is trying to use the new GPU but can't for some reason

Take the new GPU out and then try the onboard gfx again

If that works, see what display settings you can find in your bios

Might also want to try the new GPU in a different PC (if possible), because if it does the same thing it means it's faulty

Could it be a compatability issue? It shouldnt be im sure i checked, i may be wrong though as im not great with this stuff.

I just restarted the pc using the button and the startup screen came up so i clicked "start windows normally" and it booted up fine(the vga is plugged into the graphics card and it detected and installed drivers via windows) i installed msi afterburner and restarted and i am back to square one again now :/  i am pretty sure the graphics card is working due to this now though

I have just logged onto the PC with the newly installed graphics card, i seem to be able to access it when i "startup windows normally" but not during a normal system reboot. Under dxdiag it is showing the gtx 650 also, i dont know if this is of any help but i thought i would add to it, thanks again for the support :)

might be worth making sure you get the most up to date drivers from Nvidia's website

the drivers windows installed won't be the most up to date ones
