G41 chipset means don't even bother. They aren't known for being good over clockers.

Don't overclock old stuff. It'll just fall down quicker.

No you can't. If you try there's a good chance you'll set your pc on fire.

I think what they are saying is that the power supply is pretty weak and stressing it could cause damage to all your other components. Also, the rest of your components are not exactly the highest quality components for over clocking.

When it comes to over clocking, you will have to worry about extra voltage and stress on the PSU, heat coming from the CPU and GPU, as well as the ability to cool those items. Another thing you would have to watch is the ability to move air through your case. Chances are that you DO NOT have the proper setup to do all this.

So my suggestion is.....DON'T try.

Again tho...this is merely a suggestion. Take it how YOU want it....

It needs to be a quality PSU, not some CX.

Wow, I cant believe the ignorant bad advice some people are spouting. Its not going to catch on fire or fail a lot quicker. Just make sure you have at least a better cooler than the stock cooler.

Your mobo may be not the best for, but here is a guide for Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad overclocking:

If you get a decent PSU, short answer is yes. However, you will have to consider case cooling, a good heatsink to handle the extra heat from your CPU, whether your RAM will handle the overclock, whether the motherboard can handle the overclock.

It concerns me that you have listed basic versions of each item you have. Typically when you have the basic versions of these, the manufacturers use the cheapest and least quality parts, and I agree with 4745454b that motherboard was not designed for overclocking. This creates a higher risk of damaging your computer by overvoltaging or overheating your motherboard, your CPU, or creating unneeded stress if you overclock it. The question is then, will it be worth it to overclock for that risk? You need to decide that before proceeding.

G41 is good up for about 50-75MHz over stock. It isn't known to hit 400MHz. It's an entry level budget solution. Even with a guide (which numbers you aren't guaranteed to hit with any hardware.) OCing your stuff isn't going to do much of anything. Faster old stuff isn't much good. I see threads all the time where someone wants to OC a GT610 or other such card and I always tell them to not bother. OCing lowend stuff isn't going to improve your real world abilities in any meaningful way. Sorry, that's just the way it is. OC it if you want. But don't expect miracles.

We are talking about the chipset cooling not the CPU. Sure he can just shove a 212+ on the CPU but if the chipset can't take it, it will make no difference. The G41 is a bargain bin chip.
