Ugh, I am beginning to hate ATI graphics drivers more everyday. So, I finally just installed Windows 8.1 only to not be able to install Catalyst 14.6 beta because the USB filter installation was causing a BSOD with KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK. So, me as a tweaker and mess around kind of person, just installed the drivers without checking the USB filter. I then got out my ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 disc then reinstalled the chipset drivers. Now, while playing Minecraft this morning and listening to music. I get this BSOD:

So, I could really care less if this BSOD is caused by a driver or ANY software as long as it is nothing hardware related. That scares the living poop out of me knowing I don't have any money to fix anything (16 year teen here.) Anyway, here are my hardware specs.

AMD FX 6300
ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 I installed the latest BIOS
HIS R9 270 iPower turbo (Catalyst 14.6 without USB filter drivers.)
Rosewill 630 Watt Green series
8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X Series F3-10666CL9-4GBXL
Rosewill Challenger
OCZ Agility 3 60GB
Seagate 500GB

Anything else you guys? Please help by just saying if it is a software issue. Haha. I am not sure if this is the right category, please point this in the right direction.

Yeah I had a Lenovo y560 laptop with ATI switchable graphic card (not sure if i said it right) for about two year until it die. Anyway i encounter a problem while switching from Intel to ATI graphic. It will instantly give me the BSOD with the same exact error. I remember some similar to the error

the Caused By Driver : atikmdag.sys
Caused By Address : atikmdag.sys+26c1

After a little research I found out it was a hardware problem (the motherbroad); which died on me while at school. I never fixed it.

Doubt it is the motherboard, this has only happened after installing Catalyst 14.6 Beta on Windows 8.1. Windows 7 never got an issue with ati drivers on my part.

Hate to bump an old thread but I just recently started having problems and re-installed with Windows 10 RC. First thing it can't install any type of software because of "corruption" in the WinSXS folder. And now this morning it crashed on this same driver like it used to. Previously it would randomly freeze up on me and I would have to kill the power and restart it. I'm starting to think now that it's a motherboard issue because I've replaced the drive that it said was bad with a brand new drive and i'm still getting issues.
