Hello,

I am wanting to surprise a friend by building him and his family a nice desktop that could run Minecraft servers and other games around the medium settings range. Does anyone know a good build for this?

Solution
then you would want to go with an AMD based system or an intel i5 but definatley an AMD gpu
I can´t realy accuratly price it out since I´m in € but something along the lines of:
AMD FX 8320 or intel i5 (4570 maybe)
AMD R9 260x/270x
8GB Corsair vengeance (pro)
1TB HDD
(120GB SSD for OS)
corsair 650/750w psu
if you´re not overclocking, a mainboard that fits the cpu and the price
a case you like, maybe cooler master HAF 912?
I would also recomend a prolimatech cpu cooler (I don´t know if you have that company in the US though)
plus a couple fans to go with it all

I recently built a similar pc for a friend and it´s nice upper-mid-range performance
I hope this gives you a good idea for a place to start at :)
