G'day everyone
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on an i7 machine and for the past few weeks have gone backwards through thorn bushes with virus and unwanted ads and promotion flooding from everywhere. I have Norton 360 installed. Stupidly I have installed of very recent times, slim Cleaner, drive manager, tune up utilities 2014, after which I am constantly invaded by unwanted "stuff". Seems to me everything has gone haywire since installing these utilities which were supposed to help speed up my HP Pavilion g series lap top. Any helpful suggestions to an 84 year old "youngster" with about 16 years computer user experience very welcome. Thank you < email address removed by moderator >

well anything called " tune up utilities 2014" is obviously a trojan/malware. "tune up" programs don't do anything. My personal advice would be to grab any critical data and then do a factory restore.

And don't post your email in a public forum. Spam bots WILL pick it up

Thanks to everyone. Have fully scanned with Norton and will Download Malwarebytes on some other PC onto a flash drive and then see if this solves the remaining problems. Removing what I feel are unwanted programmes too. Will be back with success or failure report !!!

you may also want to check the "msconfig" box........... start up and services. see what's starting with windows you don't need or should be there. uncheck the box so it won't start.

services....... at the bottom you can filter microsoft stuff so you won't accidentally shut something down you shouldn't. don't forget to save changes. ( apply )
