I have this problem that I explained in the thread above thinking it was GPU related but let me explain briefly again: My computer is 3 days old, the first day it shut itself down a few times but I've played some games for hours. After that, it started to shut itself more and more frequently. And what I mean by "shut off" differs each time, for example sometimes the screen go of saying "no signal" but sound continues and I have to restart, sometimes screen freezes, sometimes screen goes away and computer shuts itself off with it, sometimes vertical lines appear in the screen and the sound becomes distorted and then computer shuts itself off.

When it shuts itself off like this, I cannot re-boot it instantly. I push the restart button, doesn't work; I hold down the on/off button to close it and then re-open it, it probably doesn't work; so I need to cut the power and then reopen everything or try re-booting multiple times.

I updated my graphics card driver and BIOS but didn't work.

At first I thought it was about the GPU but after finding out that the socket I was plugging my computer to is unearthed and I am thinking that it damaged either motherboard or PSU.

In the first day it sometimes said "display driver has stopped working and recovered" after a few second of black screen.

I don't understand how an unearthed socket can damage a computer in only one day.

What do you think the problem is? Is it recoverable? Do I need to buy a new one of whichever hardware is damaged after using it for 2 days? I am so pissed off right now.

My new PSU is 550V but the spare ones I have are around 300V, can I use them for troubleshooting?

Thank you, here is my system:

Windows 8.1
SAPPHIRE R9 270X 256B 4G GDDR5
GIGABYTE H87M-D3H
Intel core i5 4570 3.2 GHZ
2x4 Ram
CORSAIR VS550 CP-9020050-EU 550WATT 120MM

Monitor: 21.5" i2269Vw Widescreen LED IPS Monitor

Would it cause a further problem if I used an older PSU without taking the GPU out? Because the problem always occur on the graphics I thought I should keep it while troubleshooting.

@legokill101: I don't know what a surge suppressor is :/.

Problem continued after I plugged the computer to an earthed socket.

No 300 watts isent enough for a 270x so it might blue screen or just shut itself down.

I detached and attached my GPU again and it hasn't shut itself off for 2 hours now, weird but I think the problem "might" have been the GPU not plugged in properly in the all this time but I don't want to relieve for now.

I will try using the 300w PSU if the problem occurs again.
