currently have a gtx 760 direct cu ii, its a great card but its time for a upgrade,

i have around £400 to spend on a new card.
my cpu is a fx8320, 16gb ram, psu is a xfx pro 850watt

i was looking at maybe a gtx 780? would that be a big jump in graphics performance from the 760?
cheers

There's no reason to assume the pricing and performance range is going to change much from what it has been over the years. In all honesty those FPS aren't bad and are playable by all means, but it's not my money so whatever you want to do is your choice.

Consider either an evga 780 since they have a 90 day step up program or look into the 290 as they can be had for the price of a 770. If the 750ti is a glimpse of the power/performance ratio of the 800 series then it is going to be a major upgrade.
the 760 should be treating you just fine at 1080p, but the 780 would be a very noticeable jump up. However, at least in the US, the 290 and 290x have dropped so much in price that they are a better option right now despite their heat issues, just make sure they have a good cooler on them.

Also, the 800 series should be dropping towards the end of the year so if you can hold off for now that'd be the best choice.

my 760 is a good card, but it cant run games at full ultra settings at a good fps, it gets around 40fps on watch dogs with all the settings on high, not ultra. also gets around 50fps on battlefield 4 with the setting on high, not ultra.

i would wait for the 800 series but it all depends on the price of them and what specs they have, as the 780 at the moment seems to be a very good card.
