Hear a single loud click then computer freezes while gaming.

My computer freezes when I load up either TF2 or LOL. I start the game and go through then menus then when the match starts I hear a single loud click then my computer freezes completely. The rig is about 4 years old. I recently reassembled the computer after replacing the power supply so i tried taking off the heat sink and making sure it was seated properly with new heat paste. i currently has 3 fans running too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I should mention my rig meets the game's requirements. Sorry if this is the wrong category.

Can you tell exactly where the click is coming from? Does it sound like it's coming from the fans or hard drive?

Sounds like a dead or dieing hard drive.

i don't think its the fans of hard drive, the fans are clear of wires and seems to be coming from the motherboard or graphics card. I don't think its the hard drive because its one single click not a tapping or whining sound,

The only things in a PC that can create a sound like that is the fans or the hard drive so its one of the two.

Make sure there isn't a wire getting caught in the fan of the graphics card. Also, check the fan and make sure it is spinning freely. If not, a little WD-40 tends to work wonders on that. Just make sure not to overdo it. I actually had to do that to my HD 5850 in my file server last week. It was overheating and shutting the system down.

The only way it could be the video card is if something is caught in the fan. Pretty much the only things that can make a clicking sound is the HDD dying or something caught in a fan.

A single loud click isn't uncommon when the system totally shuts down due to the power just cutting off.
