When I run diagnostics on my computer it says that the hard drive haves failed. I am going to get a new one and was wondering if the size of the hard drive would effect the performance or if I could just get a 200gb sized one (previous hard drive was about 700gb) ? I also have a portable hard drive, would that work as my main hd?

Solution
Read the specs on the drive. Size of the drive generally won't affect speed, but the rotational speed and the general class of drive will. Make sure your drives have actually failed, if you have more than one drive and they all seem to have died at the same time I would suspect a problem elsewhere.
