hi
i really need some help with this but im not that good with pc's

system
windows vista 64bit
2 i7 quad core chips
6gb ram

i recently bought a corsair cx600 supply and a sapphire dual x R9 270x OC card and installed them at the same time due to my old 1gb graphics card failing.
i did a system re-install and completed all the updates needed including sp2,
downloaded the drivers from the AMD website (1312_winvista_64_dd_ccc_whql_635230540673139600).
the file installed but then nothing. clicked on the CCC application in the start menu and all i get is...AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. there are currently no setting that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center.

in control panel my card is listed as 'Standard VGA graphics adapter'

Am i missing something?
please help

Download any AMD gpu drivers from AMD own Drivers and support website to be updated.
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+7+-+64#amd-catalyst-packages
I do not recommend any manufacturer's website other than AMD to get drivers from. Most of the time it is outdated.

The reason for the error you get is that you did not fully installed the drivers. It is partially installed. You will need to uninstalled the driver cleanly in Windows's Safe Mode and reinstalled the drivers.

hi
just tried these and I'm still getting the same message. i also downloaded the Trixx overclocking utility just to see if it knows the card. the strange thing is that it lists the card as 'standard vga graphics adapter' but the other stats match the R9 (2048 GDDR5 memory etc)

is this that the files didnt download or that the program thinks i dont have a graphics card? could it be anything to do with the way the card is wired to the power unit?

i bit the bullet and took my pc to someone who knows a bit more about them than i do. they had to force vista to accept the 'AMD Radeon R9 200 Series' drivers that are in the 13-12 winvista download from the sapphire site. only problem is that if i do an update drivers order thru windows it will only install 'standard vga graphics adapter'. i will have to hope they resolve this before i need to update the drivers
