Hello everyone. This is my first time trying out Linux and I decided to go ahead and try Ubuntu. I downloaded the installer, and as I opened it to burn it to a CD, a message popped up saying that a burner couldn't be found.

I'm currently running Win7 Home Premium 64-bit and I downloaded Ubuntu 64-bit.

My burner can be found at this link:

I don't know what to do. Help? :(

Thanks in advance!

You have said that your burning software will not see your burner. Can you open any CD/DVD from your burner, aka music CD, files, or a game?

That being said I agree with dmroeder, fix the burner but don't bother with Ubuntu on a DVD, use a flash drive.

I downloaded imgburn and it's not detecting a destination, as in it's not detecting my burner. :(

I'd go the USB path personally, but before I'd do that I'd insist on figuring out what is up with my disk drive. If it doesn't work in windows then there is a good chance it won't work in Linux either.

As skittle mentioned, it must be the drive and/or cables. Before any OS can detect your drive, the BIOS has to detect it first so check there. I'd think that its more of a BIOS setting than anything like SATA ports disabled (seems like they can be disabled, at least on my motherboard).

Just to be sure, you do know that it requires a DVD not a CD right? I also use usb almost exclusively, makes a handy tool for fixing peoples windows machines.
