Alt+tab taking too long

Okay. So I have 2 PC's at home. This one I always use takes so long to alt+tab. I'm playing DotA 2 mostly but it happens to most of my games. It takes around 3-5 seconds to go back and forth from game to desktop. But the other PC i have like just split second.

The PC I always use has this specs:
AMD A10-6790k
PowerColor HD 7770

The other PC:
Intel i3-3220
GTX 550 Ti

I'm pretty sure it's not the GPU because I've tried switching those and the same thing happens. Could it be the monitor? Because the PC I use mostly is 22" while i3 is 19"

Switch the game to use "Windowed (Fullscreen)" in the video options.

Sounds more like a RAM issue to me.

yea what kind of ram do you have and maybe what kind of HDD it´s not a 2,5" laptop HDD by any chance?

Hi guys. Thanks for response. I have 4gb ddr3 1333mhz single. But I have the same for my i3. I use 2.5 hdd sata. They're both PC's.

Check your ram usage in both. you may have bloat
Long window switching is usually caused by disk swapping

If you are using a 64 bit OS, you should probably upgrade to 8gb

yea my money is on the HDD the 2,5" 5400rpm ones are realy slow for most stuff, so I´d guess their slow when alt+tab

Very few people like to play in Windowed mode. Even if that works better, it is more of a workaround or band-aid. In the end, it may be the only option for him but we might as well try to find the cause since he is asking =)

What's wrong with windowed fullscreen? And I disagree. It seems like the best solution.. it's free. No hardware upgrades needed.

Sure, it is free. I am just not a fan of a software bezel within my display bezel. As I mentioned, it might be his only option. Isn't that what fullscreen widowed mode is? Maybe I am thinking of a different mode. He shouldn't have to run a windowed mode with those specs.

Windowed mode will not help if the problem is caused by disk swapping.
Many times if you click an inactive window with lots of RAM usage, the system will lock up for seconds
while it trades out the data in RAM

You are thinking of regular windowed mode.. which is why I specifically said "Windowed (Fullscreen)"
