Anyone know anything about this card? I can't seem to find anything about it by that name. Search results keep coming up with the gt 745m at 1GB but nothing about the gtx 745 4GB.

I was looking at a Dell Alienware X51 r2 and it comes in the i3 and i5 builds. Just wanted to know more details about it.

http://www.alienware.com/Landings/desktops.aspx

If you look it says Nvidia Geforce GTX 745 with 4 GB DDR3 under video card. Wonder if it's a card dell customized?

That is really weird. In that situation I would recommend contacting customer support through email or phone. I doubt dell would customize a card specially for their pc's and I more likely doubt it would be a entry level card.

I was surprised that this is a low profile card (a little bigger than a credit card) with a built on fan. It definitely packs some power for it's size. I haven't done any extensive testing or benchmarks on it, but when swapping from my main desktop with a R9 270 2GB in it and this desktop with the GTX 745 4GB card, I notice no difference in game play for 1080p. It's powerful enough that I won't need to order a better card, at least not right away. The entry level nvidia cards definitely have a leg up on the entry level amd cards that I've purchased in the past, that's for sure.

It says on Nvidia's website that the GeForce GTX 745 is supplied to OEMs only. So basically any of the big computer manufacturers can use it, but the public can't buy it to put in their own PC.

Sorry for bumping the post, and sorry if this has already been said. I don't read things very well - things often go straight over my head. D:

Why the hell would the 745 need to be 4gb, it cant run all games at high settings at 1080p let alone use 4gb of vram.

Sorry for the late bump. Im really struggling on what to decide on buying. You seem to compare the gtx 745 with the r9 quite nicely. Do you know how the gtx would run games like "Final FantasyXIV:ARR" and "The Secret World".

My friend has a gtx 660 ( came with the 3rd gen alienware x51) and I'm really hoping for similar results

The 745 has 384 cuda cores, the gtx 640 has 384 cuda cores so expect equal performence to a 640, the 745 is just a way for alienware to cut cost on the psu since its a 45 watt card. A gtx 660 or r9 270 will destroy it, the 745 is a very weak card and is likely just a rebranded OEM gtx 640.

Does anyone know if I can use two monitors with this card. It has three different inputs so, I'm confused. Do I need an adapter for a second flat screen?

The 745 GTX is a pain to get to work with Ubuntu Server 14.04.1 and gnome - haven't tried any previous versions. Finally just put an HP-OEM/ASUS card in and that works fine at 1920x1200 without any special drivers. Dell XPS is nice but should have bought it without the 745 GTX.
