just checked my xfinity account and noticed by the 1st of next moth when it resets ill be at about 340 gigs of data for the month. thats pretty high for me im usualy in the 200-260 range.

is there a way to monitor or record what spacific things are using my data like streams/websight spacific downloads/generic browsing/bf3/any mmo game. and is there a way to see if an outside the house source is using my wifi?

i usualy just play fps and mmo games and watch twitch and most tv shows online. also if i download a 40ish gig game off of a websight does it only use 40gigs of data or how does that work.

There are a number of software packages that will monitor and log what your PC has done. Unfortunately you must run the software on each device and then combine them. If you do not control all the devices then that method will not work.

The main problem is the router does not have a place to store long term data. Some routers you can get reports that show what is running right at the movement.

There really is no simple way to accomplish this. If you have a cable modem and router separate you might be able to put a tap/switch between and capture all the data to a different PC with something like wireshark and then analyze the data. The other method is a form of data collection called netflow. You would have to load third party...

Still the router has no place to store it so you still must run a collector server that supports the netflow data stream.
