Hello you all. I have been looking at the 4670k cpu for a long time, now I am thinking about going with AMD. What is your opinions on the AMD cpus vs Intel? I am looking to get the Radeon R9 290x graphics card. Thank you for reading.

intel cpus are faster, run at cooler temps and use less power. the only front amd wins on is price.

if you're on a low budget, i'd go amd. if you're on a high budget (which is likely since you are considering the 290x) i'd go intel.

as for the graphics cards... the 290x and 780ti go head to head on a few titles but the 780ti generally wins out

if its in budget i would go with an intel i5-4670k on a z97 asus motherboard with an asus direc-cuii gtx780ti

Its hard to recommend AMD for the reasons stated above and the fact that there is no plan on AMD's road map for a replacement to the current line of FX series processor (no upgrades in the future).
That being said Try getting a z97 Motherboard so if (for some reason) you wanted to upgrade to broadwell (the new gen of CPU's coming soon) that option is always open.

Hope This helps!

if you know that something will actually utilize something that will benefit the extra cores, then the 8350 would be better, ie. video editing, etc. And even that is still done very well with an i5. The i5 4670k is better than the 8xxx cpus for gaming alone, assuming that's what you're going for.
