What upgrades can I put on this old AMD rig?

I'm going to give this old pre-built rig to a friend as a birthday present but I want to beef it up a little before I do. I want to at least give it a better GPU but I am inexperienced with AMD. What could it handle without bottleneck? Any other recommendations? He will be running it on a 720p monitor and I am hoping for a steady 60FPS on medium-high settings if at all possible.

Motherboard: ASUS M4N68T-M-V2
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 255
RAM: AMD F10 2x 2GB DIMM DDR3 1.34GHz 128-bit
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 5450 (80SP 2C 650MHz, 512MB DDR3 1.2GHz 64-bit)
Storage: Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 1TB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home x64 OEM
PSU: Xtreme Gear 500W Model XG500BK

Solution

With any kind of recent game the dual core is going to bottleneck almost any setup, if you stayed with the athlon i'd step it down to a 6670 or something like that, for a lower mid grade machine. If the PSU if decent quality it shouldn't have any problem with all those upgrades

Good to know, thank you. $200 right now. He may want to throw some of his own money into it when he gets it too, so any recommended upgrades would be appreciated even if they are out of current budget range.

Nice! Would the 7770 alone be bottlenecked by the current setup? And do you think the cheap 500W PSU would be able to handle all 3 upgrades?
