I have a pre built computer which is the inspiron 570 desktop the specs are:
graphics card: ati radeon hd 4200
ram: 6gb (3.25 gb useable)
processor: AMD Athlon II *4 630 processor 2.80 GHz
os: windows 7 32 bit
psu: 300w

I want a new graphics card and possibly a better processor and psu to be able to play more recent games, what would i need to get to be able to play a game such as skyrim smoothly on regular settings, right now most games i can play fine on the lowest settings but on a game like portal 2 the frame rate is pretty bad.

More about : computer upgrade

Two things right off the bat, PSU and Graphics card. Processor should be fine, at least for the time being. You are running a 32 bit OS and have 6 Gb of ram installed. That is a waste as it will only use 3gb to 3.5 Gb as you can see ( you have 3.25 Gb usable ).

My budget is about 300 so what you showed is very good but excluding that, I heard that my processor wont be able to handle some higher end graphics cards so will that graphics card work if i were to get it.

Hi, There may be some bottlenecking, but you should be fine at least for the time being and when you have a budget to work with, then you can think about another processor. When I was still in my Prebuilt stage, one of the first Upgrades I did was the PSU followed by the Graphics card. I would eventually get around to the CPU.
