I'd like to know the difference and why either or is better. Now I don't want to hear from some fool who has only used Beats and thinks they are the "best". I want someone who has used both and can explain to me why one or the other is better. Eg. which has better bass and sound quality. I do know Beats uses a stupid amount of bass to mask the sound and make them sound better but which is better? I like heavy metal and rock music and do game.

A lot of the earphones have the subwoofers running nicely anyway. Although I've never tried on Sennheiser, I believe that it's cheaper would be better than some $199 Beats. I'm not really a brand name game.

So get Sennheiser. I actually am using a Samsung earbuds, which is not too bad.

Thanks! But what are your thoughts on Beats? Are they really just bad and most people think they're epic simply because they've been using dollar store headphones or something? Because in some ways I don't think Beats are too bad.

Beat's overpriced and simply not worth it. But they have cool look and the subwoofers and sound quality is truly nice. And asides, they like it simply because it's a expensive brand name.

Ah idk anymore. Apple just bought Beats so I'll see about what happens soon. I don't really like the look of the Summheiser anyways. And I'd be getting a larger amount of buzz from the Beats instead of going hipster Summheisers. Idk really.

for the price, Sennheiser, hands down. Beats, for all it's brand name and marketing are just plain bad;

if you much prefer swag over sound quality, then the Beats would make more sense to you.
otherwise, if you want to take my personal experience my sister's Beats, they're more "loud" and just plain lack bass. and i'm comparing this with an $8 off brand G-Shark i bought off a seedy china town store which surprisingly has decent bass over the Beats.

PLENTY of great alternatives to Beats for the price. Sennheiser HD201/202 (the former i tried; great sound, but just not built for my ears. take note of that) was a former favorite to many audiophile acquaintances of mine, if not still. last i checked, Audio Technica's ATH-M50 is a sought after product, at ~$150.
