Hello Tom's Hardware forum gurus.

My question today is about a sound card that I was looking to get so I can properly use the Razer Tiamat 7.1 gaming headset. So here's the question. Will the "Creative Labs SB0880 PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" be compatible with my motherboard: (ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0)

Here is a link to my motherboard: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3858040

Here is a link to the sound card I'm looking to buy: http://www.amazon.com/Creative-SB0880-Express-Blaster-Titanium/dp/B001E25KDK

Any help would be great, and if its not too much trouble can someone teach my how to figure things like this out on my own. While its easy to ask people on a forum for help i'd like to possess the knowledge myself so I can maybe help people who don't know or even help myself in these situations.

Again any help would be great, thanks :D

Compatibility issues between PCIE, ATA and SATA devices - at least those with genuine certification for their respective interfaces - are extremely rare so, the answer you are going to get from "is device X going to be compatible with motherboard Y" will be yes 99.99% of the time unless someone has had specific negative experience with the exact configuration you are asking about.
