I haven't been getting the best performance in watch dogs even though I have a fairly solid rig, (two R9 280Xs in CF) so I went to check for new drivers and under "known issues" for the AMD Catalyst 14.6 beta driver it says, "Running Watch Dogs with a R9 280X CrossFire configuration may result in the application running in CrossFire software compositing mode." What exactly does this mean? Should it be a problem for me at all? Thanks in advance!

Solution
This is a known issue and is curently being resolved, it is only your setup but won't be an issue for too long;

AMD stated;

Known Issues: (With your 14.6 driver)

-Enabling Temporal SMAA in the AMD Catalyst Control center under a CrossFire configuration when playing Watch Dogs will result in Flickering
-AMD CrossFire configurations with Eyefinity enabled will see application stability with BattleField 4 or Thief when running Mantle
-Catalyst Install Manager text is covered by Express/Custom radio button text
-Express Uninstall does not remove C:\Program Files\(AMD or ATI) folder
-Running Watch Dogs with a R9 280X CrossFire configuration may result in the application running in CrossFire software compositing mode.

This shouldn't be anything to worry about, it basically means your in a Crossfire setup but only using one card, there are more things to it but that is in short.

Thanks for the reply! So once they solve this problem and I download the next drivers, Watch Dogs will start to utilize both graphics cards?

Thanks - had the exact same question - but seriously, when driving fast through the city in watch dogs my frames drop to +-5 FPS.
And thats with a i7 3770k 16gig memory and 2X 280x???

The game is unplayable as it stands - will have to wait for new drivers before playing.
